A group of twenty-four gathered in the Living Room at Erie Community Library for a visit from Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Historian Richard Marold arrived in a period wheelchair, sporting a bow tie and vintage FDR campaign button on his lapel. We learned about some of the New Deal projects in Colorado including as Red Rocks Amphitheater. There were many questions about the policies and personal life of the 4-term president. An inspiring time was had by all. This was the second in the 2009 Local History Series by the library and the Erie Historical Society. Next up in the series on August 13: Colorado Landmarks Reborn with “Dr. Colorado” Tom Noel.
